How to Check Transmission Fluid Step by Step 

Follow these steps to check your transmission fluid:

1. The engine should be warmed up to get an accurate check of transmission fluid levels. Start your vehicle and let the engine run for a couple of minutes. Confirm that the vehicle is in Park, then pop the hood.
2. Locate the dipstick for the transmission fluid. If you have a front-wheel drive vehicle, you’ll typically find it to the right of the oil dipstick. If you can’t locate it, consult your owner’s manual.
3. Pull the dipstick out of its holder. Put a small amount of fluid between your thumb and forefinger and rub it around. It should be clear with a pink tint to it. If it’s darker in color or has a burnt odor, bring it to our service center for transmission fluid change service.
4. Wipe the dipstick off with a rag or paper towel before putting it back into its holder. Then, remove it again to get a reading of the fluid level. A level that falls under the “full” marking is too low, and more fluid should be added.
5. Add more fluid with a funnel, being careful not to overfill.
