All About the California Clean Rebate Project

2023 Nissan ARIYA by body of water

The benefits of electric cars go beyond a more affordable commute. Did you know you can get a rebate of up to $750 through the California clean rebate project? And the federal government’s electric car tax credits are even more generous. Is there a California electric car tax credit? What is the Los Angeles Drives Electric program? Are there any Los Angeles electric car tax credits? Let’s find some answers by talking in detail about some incentives that Los Angeles drivers like you can take advantage of.

What is the California Clean Rebate Project?

Instead of a California electric car tax credit, the state offers a point of sale rebate and other incentives. The California clean rebate project, known as California Clean Fuel Reward, was created by the State of California as an incentive for drivers to buy or purchase electric or hybrid cars.

The goal is to reduce emissions and their negative impact on the environment by reducing the number of cars with conventional gas engines on our Huntington Park roads. Any resident of the state who buys or purchases a qualifying electric or hybrid vehicle qualifies for the California EV rebate of up to $750.

Los Angeles Drives Electric

Los Angeles Drives Electric offers some generous incentives for purchasing an EV and installing a home charger. Here is a summary of what is offered:

  • $1,500 rebate towards the purchase of an EV between 2 and 8 years old
  • Up to $500 rebate for purchase and installation of a qualified Level 2 (240-volt) charging station
  • $250 rebate for the installation of a dedicated EV meter
  • Discounted electricity rate for home charging an EV
  • Additional $500 rebate for customers participating in LADWP’s Lifeline or EZ-SAVE Low-Income Customer Assistance

Federal Electric Car Tax Credits

It is true that there are technically no California electric car “tax credit” incentives or Los Angeles electric car “tax credits”. But the federal government offers a tax rebate of up to $7,500 for those who lease or buy an electric vehicle. Several South Gate drivers have already taken advantage of these generous electric car tax credits.
